UNDERSTAND FLIGHT

How does a paper airplane fly?

Your throw gets the plane moving. Its wings change how air flows around them, and the air pushes on the wings. Part of that push is lift. Gravity pulls the plane down, while drag resists its motion through the air. After you let go, your paper airplane is a glider—with no engine.

TRY A FLIGHT FIX

Why won’t my paper airplane fly?

Watch what happens first. A nose-dive, a climb followed by a drop, and a sideways turn can have different causes. Check for matching wings and bent edges, then make a gentle launch. Choose one small change and try again. One bad throw is a clue, not a verdict on your plane.
